Abstract
This article makes a reading of the novel El cielo a tiros from the perspective of reception aesthetics (RE), in order to approach two antagonistic points of view that They are usually enunciated around the so-called “narconovelas”: that the literary treatment of drug trafficking is always pornomiseria and utilitarianism, or that it accounts for a social commitment on the part of writers. This approach implies addressing the debate on the sicaresque as a literary genre. It is concluded that both points of view respond to expectations horizons mediated by different space-time circumstances, as well as social and historical ones.
