Computational study of the decay of magnetic fields in neutron stars

Project Details

Description

Neutron stars are among the highest density objects found in the universe and occur in supernova explosions, the final event in the evolution of massive stars.

Objective

The scientific goal of this project is to computationally simulate the effect of ambipolar diffusion processes, hall effect and ohmic diffusion on the evolution of magnetic fields in neutron stars.

Expected results

With the realization of this project. we hope to contribute to the understanding of the physical mechanisms that promote the evolution of magnetic fields in neutron stars.
