Project Details

Description

Currently there are serious problems of environmental pollution, which are caused by the global technological development, which has involved all the countries of the world. this has led to a high degree of deterioration of fauna, flora and water quality. colombia, specifically the aburra valley, is not isolated from this problem and it is necessary to propose practical and economic solutions, such as clean technologies, that allow reducing the pollution problem, without having to alter the inevitable industrial development. within the clean technologies is the heterogeneous photocatalysis (fh), which is based on the reactions that occur on the illuminated surface of semiconductor metal oxides, being the titanium dioxide (tio2) one of the most used.the fh presents as advantages that it is not selective and can be used to treat complex mixtures of pollutants, in addition to the use of solar radiation that makes it more accessible.

Objective

Obtain modified photoactive tio2 systems that allow their implementation in liquid phase pollutant removal processes that are photocatalytically active under artificial or solar uv radiation

Expected results

Article isi wos or scopus sent. bachelor students. it is proposed to obtain new materials that can achieve a better performance in the photocatalytic elimination of contaminants. competitive with other treatments given its innocuousness. the potential users are in principle the academic community, with the strengthening of the research processes and applications at the laboratory level. then the community in general taking into account that water is intervened.
